Privacy policy

We collect as little as we need to run escrow safely, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, username and a hashed password. If you turn on two-factor authentication, an encrypted copy of its secret key.
  • Trading records: listings, offers, deals, messages and files in deal rooms, ratings, and your balance history. Delivery details (codes, logins) are stored encrypted.
  • Payment records: the coin, amount, addresses and transaction IDs of payments and withdrawals. These are public on their blockchains anyway.
  • Security logs: IP address and browser type at sign-in and for important actions, to detect fraud and account takeovers.

We don't ask for identity documents, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site uses one cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser stores your light or dark theme choice.

Who sees what

  • Other users see your username, sales and purchase counts, ratings and join month. Your trading partner sees your username during a deal.
  • Everyone can see completed trades on the public trade ledger: deal code, item, amount, dates and the payment and delivery transaction hashes. Usernames and emails are never shown there. Anyone who already knows your wallet address could match it to a transaction, as on any blockchain.
  • Zeus OTC staff can see deal rooms, deliveries and files when needed to decide a dispute, investigate fraud or answer a support request.
  • We share data with service providers only as needed to run the site (hosting, email delivery, payment processing), and with authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Trading and payment records are kept for as long as needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations, generally at least five years after a deal closes. Security logs are kept for up to 12 months. If you close your account, your profile is removed, but records of completed deals are kept for the same reasons.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account by emailing help@zeusotc.com from your account email.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Two-factor secrets and delivery details are encrypted with AES-256. Connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so we recommend turning on two-factor authentication.
